An Astoria man was charged with animal cruelty for beating a 7-pound Chihuahua last Sunday. Wisam Briq, 26, allegedly beat his girlfriend’s 4-year-old pup after it defecated on the couple’s floor on Monday, April 24.
When the dog’s owner, Alyssa Holland, took her pet to the vet the next day, the Chihuahua, Cody, had pelvic fractures, broken ribs, bruising, a hip fracture, and internal bleeding.
Briq was arraigned last week in Queens Criminal Court and faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
