Queens Resident Discovers Talent For Writing

After working in the corporate world for more than 30 years, Queens Village resident Joan Lloyd was inspired to write a novel.
“The thing is that it (writing) was never a passion of mine. An idea just came to me,” Lloyd said. “It was never a plan for me to be a writer.”
Lloyd said that she had always been an imaginative person. That, combined with other influences in her life, inspired her to write “Pyzaono Brothers,” which was published through AuthorHouse.
The story addresses various issues that everyone deals with in life, such as losing a loved one, and finding a new love. “There’s more than one message but the bottom line is the story is about a passion for love and a passion for life,” said Lloyd. “It shows how people can live together.”
The novel, which came out in January, took about two years for Lloyd to complete. Lloyd continued with her day job all the while. “I was pecking away in slow motion because of the office environment,” she said. “I would commit so many hours in the evening when I got home.”
She attributes much of her success to her husband, who was very patient and understanding throughout the entire process.
Lloyd has gotten a great deal of positive feedback about the book and receives frequently e-mails of praise from readers.
“Her co-workers have been especially enthusiastic about “Pyzaono Brothers,” Lloyd said. “They are just wild with excitement.”
Now, Lloyd has a new hope for her creative work. “What I would love to do is make a movie out of this,” she said. “That’s the goal. I’m trying to contact as many people in that arena as I can to make that possible.”
“The Pyzaono Brothers” can be purchased through authorhouse.com. The cost is $21.95 for paperback and $27.95 for hardcover. The book can also bought through amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, Borders and walkdenbooks.com for $30.49 for paperback or $46.49 for hardcover.
