The assaults, according to police and Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, began Nov. 20 and totaled at least 12. On Dec. 4 a Ridgewood man, Carlos Flores, 40, was murdered with a machete. The final mugging on Christmas Day left a 33-year-old Little Neck man in a coma.Two 17-year-olds ,Yovanni Rivera and Marcos Polanco, were charged with attempted murder, assault and robbery, the DA said. They were suspects in at least five other incidents.The third teen, Herman Gonzalez, 19, was charged with robbery in one of the assaults, which took place in various spots around the park.The attacks brought back memories of the gang rape of a 42-year-old woman in a secluded area of the park on Dec. 19, 2002, by a group of homeless immigrants.
