National Crime Victims’ Rights Week

As part of the 27th annual commemoration of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, District Attorney Richard A. Brown sponsored a community awareness program at the Queens Criminal Courthouse on Thursday, April 26.
Program speakers included Brown; Supreme Court Justice Randall T. Eng, Administrative Judge of the Criminal Term of Queens County Supreme Court; Mira Shapiro, Senior Director of the Queens Child Advocacy Center; and Samantha Ennett, a 16-year-old student whose older brother Lawrence was murdered at a Queens barbershop.
Students from P.S. 106 in Far Rockaway kicked off the program by leading those assembled in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by musical and theatre performances by students of P.S./I.S. 268 and P.S. 106. Brown also presented $50 saving bonds to four Queens fifth-graders from P.S. 106 who were chosen as the winners of a poster contest in which they were to create an artwork which reflected support and lending a helping hand.
