Councilmember Leroy Comrie provided several New York City college students the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of government, via his college internship program.
Hailing from schools such as Columbia University, New York University, Pace and City University of New York, a diverse group of young leaders worked on numerous community and research projects that will eventually benefit all New Yorkers.
“I want to take the opportunity to congratulate the young women and men who interned in my office this summer,” said Comrie. “Their commitment to helping their fellow New Yorkers was evident in the long hours they spent working to help constituents in my district and compiling research that will lay the foundation for my legislative agenda this fall.”
This summer’s interns worked on a variety of issues, from personally assisting flood victims to assisting in planning the annual Family Day events, according to Comrie.
Additionally, they covered legislative hearings, translated press releases into Spanish and Mandarin, and researched a variety of legislative issues.
Comrie is currently accepting applications for the fall.
