Police from the 101st Precinct in Far Rockaway are looking for two brazen burglars who stole a safe from a newly constructed religious establishment in Bayswater in broad daylight on Tuesday afternoon.

The two suspects walked through the front door of the four-story building in the vicinity of Beach 9th Street and Dinsmore Avenue with a hand truck at 2:30 p.m. on May 7 and went straight to a storage room. Upon gaining entry to the storage room with a key, they loaded a safe onto the hand truck, took an elevator down to the lobby and calmly walked out of the building unchallenged, according to an NYPD spokeswoman. They proceeded to load the stolen safe into a dark-colored Ford Taurus and sped away from the scene.

The spokeswoman could not say what the safe contained, but the investigation is still at an early stage. There are no arrests and there were no injuries reported.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspects and described them as having medium builds and light complexions. They wore black hooded sweatshirts, dark pants, baseball caps and face masks.
