Offer reward for capture of news box thieves

Forty El Correo news boxes have been stolen from various locations throughout Jackson Heights, and the paper is asking the public for help in catching the culprits.
“El Correo would like to offer a $500 cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible,” said El Correo Associate Publisher Joshua Schneps.
In an effort to increase the visibility of El Correo’s distribution, the company recently placed 40 news boxes in high-traffic, visible locations that were strategic distribution points on Saturday, October 20.
Less than two weeks later, on Monday evening October 29, all 40 boxes disappeared from the Jackson Heights streets.
“These thefts will in no way hinder our distribution; we are committed to replacing every one of the boxes, and we will continue to add more,” Schneps said. “We will continue to strive to have the pre-eminent Spanish language community newspaper in the borough of Queens.” Call confidentially 718-224-5863 x 206 with any information.
