Donald A. Marcone

Donald A. Marcone, long-time Bayside Hills resident, passed away on January 23. He was 91 years old.
Marcone was an active Board Member of the Bayside Hills Civic Association until his death. He was the last President of the Oakland Hills Civic Association until its merger with the Bayside Hills Civic Association in the mid 1990s. He was an active Community Board member of CB 11 from 1970 until 1984 and was very active dealing with the parking and traffic issues at Queensborough Community College in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
A graduate of Columbia University, Marcone was the New York City Comptroller’s Chief Engineer for a number of years until his retirement in the early 1990’s.
During WWII he served as an officer for the Army/Airforce Unit in the Pacific Campaign as an Engineer in the Topographical Unit.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean, his son Donald and his daughter Jeanie.
Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
