HORSEPLAY REDUCED AT PBLL

Thanks to the help of Councilman Jimmy Vacca, Pelham Bay Library patrons have been experiencing a quieter atmosphere and less horseplay from its younger cardholders.

After receiving requests from parents and residents of the area, Vacca reached out to the New York Public Library with the hopes of securing a security guard for the Middletown Road branch, at least temporarily.

According to Gayle Snible, an New York Public Library spokeswoman, library officials track incidents by branch and use that information to determine if a branch is experiencing a situation that requires additional security.

After verifying that Pelham Bay was in need of such measures, a guard was put in place on Thursday, January 18, and has proven to be an effective solution so far, as many members of the staff have reported improvement and security and no incidents since the guard
