Missing child leads to arsenal

If you were wondering why they call it dope - read on.
On Wednesday, March 5, police responded to a 9-1-1 call from a distressed mother in the Macy’s department store near Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue in downtown Flushing, who said her 3-year-old daughter was missing.
Cops and security searched to no avail; the child could not be found anywhere in the store. But police observed that the woman was “behaving erratically,” and began to suspect she was “under the influence of drugs or something,” according to a police source.
As a matter of procedure, detectives went to the home, at 157-03 29th Avenue in Whitestone. When they entered the house they found reason to obtain a search warrant and shortly after midnight on March 6, cops arrested Suzanne Ventura, 29 and James Ventura, 30, who lives at the address and according to city records, owns the house.
What cops found was 10 pounds of marijuana, $24,000 in cash, assorted ammunition, a .38 caliber revolver, a loaded Glock 9 millimeter pistol, a Glock BB pistol, a .44 caliber black powder revolver, a 12-gauge double-barreled shotgun, two Bonelli shotguns and a Bushmaster M4 rifle.
What they didn’t find was the daughter. She had been with her grandmother the entire time and apparently, Suzanne Ventura just forgot. “I guess she was really out of it when she dropped the kid off and when she came down to the store, she thought she’d lost her,” the source speculated.
According to the Queens DA’s office, James and Suzanne Ventura are charged with weapons and marijuana possession, possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment. If convicted of the charges, each faces up to 15 years in prison.
The unnamed child was placed with a family member.
Bonelli is a manufacturer of high-end automatic shotguns used by the Drug Enforcement Agency and others, according to a knowledgeable source.
The Bushmaster M4 is a “civilian version” of the latest U.S. military-issue rifle.
The Glock handguns “are just like the ones we use - the BB gun looks exactly like the 9 millimeter,” a police source said.
On Saturday, Suzanne Ventura was released on bail. James Ventura remains in custody, with bail set at $150,000.
“Frankly, I hope he doesn’t make bail,” a police source said, adding “That looks like a domestic violence call waiting to happen.”
