Immigrant Heritage Week at QMA

As part of the city-wide Immigrant Heritage Week, the Queens Museum of Art will be holding various special events through Sunday, April 20.
The week was created in 2004 and offers programming to “build cross-cultural understanding between diverse New Yorkers.”
At the Queens Museum of Art, the celebrations kicked off on Wednesday, April 16 when Queens Borough President Helen Marshall presented “Queens: Celebrating Our Diverse Heritage.”
The events will continue on Saturday, April 19 with “Through Immigrant Eyes: A Digital Storytelling Festival” from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It will feature visual media of various kinds.
Also on April 19, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Mosaicos Del Peru and the Andean Folklore Foundation will present “The Virgin of Candelaria from the Andes to New York.” It will include folkloric music and dance performances.
Immigrant Heritage Week at the Queens Museum of Art will conclude on Sunday, April 20 with “LYFE, Kasama, Action: FAHSI Culture Showcase.” The showcase, which will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., will display the talents of members of the Filipino American community, such as music, dancing, and spoken word.
