A local tradition continues.
Community Board 6 Chair Joseph Hennessy and District Manager Frank Gulluscio hosted their District Service Cabinet Breakfast & Whitepot Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, June 25.
The purpose of this event is to honor and recognize city agencies, community organizations and individuals that have worked diligently to improve the quality of life for the residents of Forest Hills and Rego Park.
This year, the board honored the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), The New York City Police Department - Traffic Enforcement Division and New York City Councilmember Melinda Katz for their contributions to the community.
The Community Board also honored students from P.S. 101 who won a poetry contest sponsored by DEP.
