EAST ELMHURST — Two men who tried to check in illegal handguns at LaGuardia Airport in two separate incidents were arrested last week, police said, according to the New York Post.
Ali Timouri, 22, surrendered an unloaded 9mm handgun to a ticket agent before he tried to board a flight at the Delta terminal at around 6 a.m. Oct. 7, the paper reported.
The ticket agent called authorities, and Timouri told officers he bought the gun in Florida but could not produce a valid license, the Post said. He was then arrested on a weapons possession charge, the paper said.
Also charged with weapons possession was 49-year-old Montana resident Cesare Carbone, who was arrested Oct. 8 when a .22-caliber Derringer handgun was found in his luggage during a routine pre-flight check at the Northwest Airlines terminal, the paper said.
Carbone told authorities he was visiting the city for six days and admitted that he did not have a valid permit, the Post said.
