Mayor to swear in Councilmember-elect Ulrich

City Councilmember-elect Eric Ulrich will be sworn in by Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Sunday, March 15, at 3 p.m. at P. S. 207 in Howard Beach.

Ulrich, who will represent District 32 in the City Council, won a Special Election February 24 to fill the remainder of the term of former Councilmember Joseph Addabbo, who was elected to the State Senate last November.

Ulrich will seek re-election to a full four-year term this November.

“I am pleased that Mayor Bloomberg has accepted my invitation to come to Howard Beach this Sunday,” said Ulrich, 24. “It shows the mayor’s continued commitment to serving the needs of all New Yorkers, and in particular the diverse residents of the 32nd Council District.”

Dr. Frank J. Macchiarola, former New York City Public Schools Chancellor, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the event.

The New York City Board of Elections (BOE) is expected to certify the results of the Special Election at its next meeting on Tuesday, March 17, and Ulrich expects the City Clerk to officially swear him in “as soon as possible” thereafter.

Ulrich noted that while this Sunday’s event is “ceremonial,” he felt it was important to “stand before the voters who elected me and make a public commitment to serve them.”

P.S. 207, the “Rockwood Park” School, is located at 159-15 88th Street, Howard Beach. The ceremony, which will be held in the school auditorium beginning at 3 p.m., is open to the public. A reception will immediately follow in the school’s cafeteria, where Ulrich will greet constituents and guests.
