A bagel shop grows in Broad Channel

There’s nothing like a New York bagel, and for some of the best around, visit Rock n Roll Bagel in Broad Channel.

Each is hand rolled, water boiled and baked in state-of-the-art ovens, making them truly authentic.

But Rock n Roll, located at 20-10 Cross Bay Boulevard, is so much more.

Co-owner Rob Pisani also owns the All American Deli and Baby Restaurant, so he definitely brings experience to the table.

In fact, he had originally purchased the location for restaurant parking, but he saw an opportunity – and couldn’t pass it up.

“Around 25,000 cars a day cross the Cross Bay Bridge in the winter; in the morning, it’s 8,000,” he said. “I knew this place would do great in the morning.”

So he and co-owner Bobby Steiner opened up Rock n Roll Bagel the first week in May.

Why the name, you ask?

“It’s very catchy,” said Pisani, who said that they also have a full coffee bar, frozen yogurt, paninis, smoothies, soups, bakery items, a huge salad bar, and outdoor as well as indoor dining.

And their delicious burgers are a great value too.

A quarter-pound burger with fries and a large fountain soda – with unlimited refills – is just $6.50 – great in this economy.

And the store itself, which can be seen from the toll booth, is aesthetically pleasing.

“It’s a beautiful store, and the people from the neighborhood have come in and complemented us,” said Pisani.

Rock n Roll Bagel, which also offers catering and delivery, is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

They accept major credit cards. To find out more, call 718-945-CAFÉ (2233) or visit www.rocknrollbagel.com.
