The Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) held its 2010 “Three Acts of Goodness” Festival on Sunday, June 13, at the Fo Guang Shan New York Temple on Barclay Avenue in Flushing. The three acts are doing good things, speaking good words, and thinking good thoughts.
As the event started, an interfaith prayer in honor of Environment Day was made and the 2010 Buddha’s Light New York scholarship awards were presented. They were awarded to three college students, Menley Khuu, Qing Li and Theresa Leong, and six high school students, Cai Jie Yan, Kevin Wong, Sonoko S. Stillwell, Zhi Fan Yang, Zhong Xing Chen and Connie Lu.
The festival also included a food fair, raffle prizes, games and booth selling merchandise. Attendees were also entertained with a magic show, multi-cultural dances and a Chinese yoyo presentation. – Jessica Lyons
