Citi Field blood drive is successful

Bob Doda
Corona – About 400 people came out to Citi Field for the New York Mets community blood drive Wednesday, August 4. The New York Blood Center (NYBC) collected 419 units of blood; an amount capable of saving as many as 941 lives.

The New York Mets organization offered free tickets to donors for a home game in September. Hospital use of blood products remains high due to surgeries, emergencies and care of cancer patients. About one in seven people entering a hospital needs blood.
