New hours coming to Queens libraries

Beginning on Tuesday, September 7, Queens Library will be implementing new public service hours.

“The new service schedule delivers library service every weekday in every community,” said Queens Library CEO Thomas W. Galante. “Expanded evening hours support those who work, while the full weekday schedule supports the education of children after school.”

On some weekdays, there will be library branches open as late as 8 p.m. or, in the case of the Central Library in Jamaica, 9 p.m.

Central Library will be the only branch open seven days a week, including from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Other branches that will have Saturday hours are Bayside, Broadway, Cambria Heights, Elmhurst, Far Rockaway, Flushing, Forest Hills, Fresh Meadows, Hillcrest, Jackson Heights, Langston Hughes, Lefferts, Long Island City, Peninsula, Ridgewood, Rochdale Village, Steinway and Sunnyside.
