Teens to sing patriotic songs at Open

The United States Tennis Association announced the names of 15 vocalists who will bring their unique talents to one of the biggest stages the sports and entertainment world has to offer.

The 15 vocalists – ages 12 and under – will perform patriotic-themed songs during 14 sessions at the 2010 U.S. Open. While some of the singers have graced Arthur Ashe Stadium in the past, there will be some new faces wowing the crowd.

Gaten and Sabrina Matarazzo, siblings aged seven and 12 from Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, will perform for the first time at Arthur Ashe Stadium, while Michael Woodard, 12, of Philadelphia, will return for his second performance at the Open. And Gina Marie Incandela, who learned to sing as part of her therapy for autism, returns for her third appearance.

The performers were selected at the U.S. Open Casting Call held at Radio City Music Hall on June 15. The 15 lucky kids were chosen out of a pool of 258 hopefuls after auditions were held in front of a panel of celebrity judges.

The tiny talents will perform at the highest-attended annual sporting event in the world, and they will take the same stage as past artists ranging from Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross to Earth, Wind & Fire.
