ROCHDALE VILLAGE — A man crossing Merrick Boulevard was struck and killed early Saturday morning, police sources said. An investigation is still ongoing.
At about 9:28 a.m. at the intersection of Merrick Boulevard and 115th Avenue, police answered a 911 call for a pedestrian struck, police said. Upon arriving, NYPD officers found a 58-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive, police said. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and pronounced the man dead on arrival, police said.
Police described the car as a white 1999 Infinity SUV, which was traveling southbound on Merrick when it struck the man. The car was driven by a 35-year-old black woman, police said. There was no suspicion of criminal intent at this time, police said.
The name of the victim had not been released.
