Sad Day

It is a most sad day in Little Neck and Douglaston with the closing of Scobee Grill, located on Little Neck Parkway and Northern Boulevard. The Scobee Grill will be closing on November 29 and it has been a very important part of the community for many decades.
My wife Eva has been employed there for about 25 years and is greatly saddened as the rest of the employees are as well. The Scobee is a family restaurant where many from the community have come in to eat and to talk about what they hold most dear.
A glass enclosed cabinet near the front door was filled with a collage of pictures of employees, customers, and local politicians and even one ex-CIA Director, George Tenet who once worked there as a busboy.
The Scobee have also helped many religious and civic groups with their fundraisers, such as the Lions Club, St. Anastasia Knights of Columbus, St. Anastasia Parish, Little Neck- Douglaston Parade Committee, and too many more to mention.
Let me say in closing that the Scobee Grill gave much to the community and may God bless the owners and the employees for all they had done for all of us that have eaten there and given us much joy and contentment.
