Thank you [Steve Mosco] for the wonderful article regarding our library. Twelve years ago, members of the Friends of Gantry were instrumental in this community to get this library to this point. A committee was formed by me because we found that a library was important for this community.
We wrote countless letters to all the mentioned in your article, we took trips to Albany to lobby for the project and held and attended many meetings before we were chartered in 2009 as the "First Friends of Queens Library at Hunters Point."
The Queens Library under the leadership of Tom Galante accepted our input for this library; the programs, the purpose and even the geothermal element which was my idea..So I thank you again for bringing this vital piece of the history of Queens West at Hunters Point to light.
