Local government leaders and members of the community celebrated the recent re-opening of Queens Library at Windsor Park following a complete interior and exterior renovation.
State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, Assemblymember David Weprin and Councilmembers Mark Weprin and Vincent Gentile were all present.
The newly-improved facility now includes a teen area and new furnishings for the adult area, in addition to a completely renovated children’s room. Upgrades to the library also included new lighting, energy efficient equipment and carpeting.
The technological innovations include the installation of equipment for self check-in and self check-out of library materials. These new customer service upgrades will help reduce wait times for customers, as well free up library staff to assist more customers.
The new automated self check-in machines will allow the return of materials 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.
The total investment in Queens Library at Windsor Park was over $2.8 million and was supported by the mayor and local government officials. – Will Sammon.
