National Merit Scholarship winners

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced that eight African-American high school students from Queens have won $2,500 national achievement scholarships.

The winners are: Tami M. Forrester from Cambria Heights who attends Benjamin Cardozo High School; Amber N. Timmons from Cambria Heights who attends the Chapin School; Koryalys Edwards from Corona who attends Queens Gateway Health Sciences High School; Melisa L. Lopardo from East Elmhurst who attends Stuyvesant High School; Shunella G. Lumas from Forest Hills who attends Bronx High School of Science; Stacey R. Nieves from Glendale who attends Archbishop Molloy High School; Amber N. Quinones from Glen Oaks who attends Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts and Rasheda C. Browne from Jamaica who attends the Bronx High School of Science.¬¬
