The Bayside-Whitestone Lion’s Club recently signed their charter kicking off a revival of the club at Bourbon Street.
More than 100 people gathered at the Bell Boulevard restaurant to celebrate the club’s renewal on Tuesday, June 7. Membership began to wane in the original Whitestone club in the 1970’s. Paul Vallone, the newly installed president, has the club back in full swing.
“It is an honor to bring the Lion’s club back, this is the perfect balance between local businesses and our families,” said Vallone.
Members of the old guard joined newcomers, civic leaders and elected officials to celebrate the charter signing.
The club’s focus is to provide scholarships and a host of other causes. The club has already raised nearly $10,000.
