Sunday afternoon at grandma’s house might be long gone for some of us, but the flavors of those long gone days can be recaptured at DiMaria’s Brick Oven Pizza and Kitchen in Little Neck. And now with a newly expanded room, the Italian restaurant is ready to better serve customers from Queens and Long Island.
The experience starts just outside where DiMaria’s entices eaters with the delightful and seductive aroma of brick oven pizza. Offering a wide variety of brick oven pizzas – including margherita, prosciutto and arugula, seafood, vegetarian and more – DiMaria’s pies are perfect for individual tastes.
As for an appetizer, the hot antipasto is perfect for anyone who can’t make up their mind. Serving two, the dish is overflowing with jumbo shrimp, baked clams, eggplant rollatini, stuffed mushrooms and zucchini sticks. If the eater is lucky, some of the cheese from the rollatini will affix itself to the dish’s other ingredients, creating a new element to every bite.
Before choosing an entrée, peruse DiMaria’s salad offerings. Besides the usual house and Caesar varieties, the restaurant also offers Italian white bean, Portobello, roasted beet and seafood salads, among others.
Entrees include a large selection of pastas, meats and seafood. The Shrimp Oreganata came highly recommend and boasts baked shrimp on a bed of fresh spinach with mushrooms and sliced garlic, all topped with breadcrumbs. The Oreganata’s flavors are bright and pungent, with an oregano essence dictating the zest on your palate.
Other entrees worth checking out include the pork chops, Ricki’s broccoli rabe, the strip steak and the seafood combination featuring jumbo shrimp, clams, calamari, mussels and scallops in a marinara or white wine sauce.
Pasta dishes at DiMaria’s with all of the care and knowledge one would expect from an Italian restaurant where character is the number one ingredient. The Rigatoni alla Florentine is warm and inviting with a rich and creamy plum tomato sauce draped over tender pieces of chicken and fresh spinach, all sautéed with rigatoni.
Be sure to also try the Gnocchi Pesto, Lobster Ravioli alla Vodka, Pappardelle Bolognese, Tortellini Carbonara, as well as six different kinds of baked pasta. The chef will even add baby shrimp, jumbo shrimp, grilled chicken and chicken cutlet to any order.
DiMaria’s is a family restaurant in the truest sense. Bring the kids, the grandparents and everyone else from your dining room to theirs and enjoy Italian cuisine done right.
