After Solemn Processions, Families Gather for ‘eggstravagant’ Easter Fun

Children went on a frenzy looking for Easter treats during a number of “Easter Eggstravaganza” celebrations held last Saturday morning, Mar. 7, at a number of venues in Ridgewood, Glendale, Bushwick and Woodhaven, among other locations. Organized by Christ Tabernacle Church in Glendale, each event featured an Easter egg hunt where youngsters gathered plastic eggs full of candy. The events took place, as shown, at the Forest Park picnic area (bottom left photo), The Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale (top photo), Benninger Playground in Ridgewood (center photo) and Maria Hernandez Park in Bushwick (bottom photo).

Hundreds of Maspeth residents participated in the Good Friday procession held jointly by Holy Cross, St. Stanislaus and Transfiguration churches on neighborhood streets. As shown in the top photo, the procession started at the steps of Holy Cross Church on 56th Road and wound its way through the neighborhood, stopping at the other participating churches along the way. In the photo at left, St. Brigid Church on the Ridgewood/Bushwick border in Brooklyn held a traditional Stations of the Cross procession through neighborhood streets last Friday.
