Glendale ZIP Code Push Sent To Capital

Two local lawmakers are making a federal case out of the fight for a separate ZIP code for Glendale, as they have filed an appeal of the United States Postal Service’s (USPS) latest rejection of the proposal directly to its central headquarters in Washington, D.C.

This map shows the proposed boundaries of the Glendale ZIP code area as presented to the United States Postal Service by Rep. Bob Turner and Assemblyman Mike Miller. They also suggested that the USPS assign Glendale with the vacant 11384 ZIP code.

Rep. Bob Turner and Assemblyman Mike Miller announced on Tuesday, Sept. 25, that they have sent a letter to the USPS asking it to overturn the Triboro District’s denial earlier this year of their request for the Glendale ZIP code. The neighborhood was instead recognized by the USPS with the “preferred last line” distinction, acknowledging it as a community within the 11385 ZIP code it shares with Ridgewood.
