Gantry State Park in Long Island City became a public library for a day as temporary bookcases and reading spaces were set up by the Uni Project and the Friends of the Hunters Point Library last Saturday, Sept. 22. As noted, the public got a chance to browse through and read books at the park located on the East River waterfront. The event was held in advance of the groundbreaking of the Queens Borough Public Library’s Hunters Point branch, which is scheduled to take place on Friday morning, Oct. 5.
