Free flu vaccines were administered to seniors at Ridgewood’s Peter Cardella Senior Center and parents and students at nearby P.S. 88 during an event organized by City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley and Elmhurst Hospital Center last Tuesday, Jan. 22. As noted, more than 20 individuals received the vaccine at the height of the flu season, which has reached an epidemic level in New York. All individuals six months of age and older-particularly those most susceptible to the flu, such as pregnant women, young children and seniors-are urged to get the vaccine if they have not already done so. Crowley and P.S. 88’s Audrey Glass look on as a nurse from Elmhurst Hospital gives a flu shot to a Ridgewood resident.
