Driver Slams Into Bus In Cypress Hills

He’s Killed Blocks From Home

Several blocks away from his home, a Cypress Hills man was killed when the car he was driving slammed into a bus early on Monday morning, Mar. 11, law enforcement sources reported.

Reportedly, Luis Duran, 23, of Highland Place died in the crash with an MTA bus at the corner of Jamaica Avenue, Cypress Hills Street and Euclid Avenue at 4:45 a.m. Monday.

According to information obtained by police, an MTA bus was stopped on the eastbound side of Jamaica Avenue at a light when a 2003 Honda Accord operated by Duran struck the rear end of the bus at a high rate of speed.

Members of the 75th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene.

Upon examination by paramedics, Duran was pronounced dead at the location.

No other injuries were reported in the accident, and no criminality is suspected, law enforcement sources noted.

The NYPD Accident Investigation Squad is continuing its inquiry into the case, police said.
