Vets Getting Ready Formemorial Parade

Raise $ For Ridgewood-Glendale March

This year’s Memorial Day Parade in Ridgewood and Glendale, set to take place on Monday, May 27, figures to be extra special as the Allied Veterans Memorial Committee of Ridgewood and Glendale will celebrate the march’s diamond jubilee.

In advance of the 75th annual march, the committee is now accepting applications for those wishing to participate in the parade. Interested organizations are encouraged to contact Russell Goeller at 1-718-456- 3065.

The committee is also looking for financial support from the public for the parade. Funds will be raised at the Allied Veterans’ dinner/dance scheduled to take place on Sunday, Apr. 7, at 3 p.m. at the Brewery Keenan Heiser American Legion Post, located at the corner of Cooper Avenue and 68th Street.

Tickets are $35 per person, and can be obtained by calling Paul Schottenhamel at 1-718-366-1359.

This year’s Memorial Day Parade will kick off at 11 a.m. on May 27 at the Glendale Memorial Triangle, located at the corner of Myrtle Avenue and 70th Street. From there, marchers will head west on Myrtle Avenue from Glendale into Ridgewood.

The parade will conclude with a memorial ceremony at the Ridgewood Veterans Triangle, located at the corner of Myrtle and Cypress avenues.
