Housing Worker Gets Nabbed For Sex Abuse
Law enforcement agents cuffed a city worker at the Queensbridge Houses in Long Island City last Thursday, Apr. 18, for allegedly sexually abusing a 55-year-old woman on two different occasions, it was reported.
The suspect was identified by police as 47-year-old John Potenza of Wheeling Avenue in Staten Island, an employee of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).
Reportedly, Potenza was charged by members of NYPD Housing PSA 9 last Thursday morning after he allegedly molested the woman inside the basement of an apartment house at the NYCHA Queensbridge complex, located in the vicinity of Vernon Boulevard and 40th Avenue.
According to information provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, Potenza approached the victim as she was leaning over to mix a container of plaster at around 8:30 a.m. He reportedly rubbed his erection against her buttocks without her consent.
Police learned that Potenza allegedly fondled the victim in a similar way as they rode inside a crowded elevator at the location on the morning of Mar. 25.
Following questioning by police, Potenza was taken into custody with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse.
Court records indicated that he was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court last Friday, Apr. 19, before Judge John Zoll and ordered held on $500 bail. He is scheduled to return to court tomorrow, Friday Apr. 26.
