Kiwanian Is Honored

Long-time member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Maspeth Joan Sammon was presented with the Zellar Award for her efforts as part of the club’s participation in Project Eliminate, a campaign to provide neo-natal tetanus vaccines to children around the world. Reportedly, the Maspeth Kiwanis was the first club in the division to raise $2,000 for the project; to date, it has raised over $4,000 for the program. Sammon is pictured at center along with Marie Breslin (at left), current Maspeth Kiwanis president; and J.P. DiTroia, president of the U.S. Columbarium and division coordinator for Project Eliminate.
