A group of Maspeth residents were recently recognized for their contributions during Christmas to assist American troops serving in Afghanistan. As noted, the group-known as “Matthew’s Mission” and organized by Mary Ann Todiza-sent over 600 Christmas cards and 60 boxes of food, snacks and personal care items to troopos serving overseas through the Marine Corps League. The 2013 Matthew’s Mission drive will focus on supplying Navy and K-9 units with suitable supplies. Todiza will be honored for her efforts at the Maspeth Memorial Day Parade this Sunday, May 26.
