Young scholars received awards for higher education during the Kiwanis Club of Glendale scholarship luncheon last Thursday night, June 19, at Christ the King Regional High School in Middle Village. As noted, 14 local students received financial awards for achieving high marks in school and participating in community service. The winners are pictured along with New York District Governor Joe Aiello (at far left); Glendale Kiwanis President Gerry Gonzalez (seventh from left); Glendale Kiwanis Scholarship Chairperson Deborah Kueber (third from left); Scholarship Committee members Mary Gasparic (second from left), Sabrina Tulloch (10th from right), Ken Voisin (eighth from right) and Fred Haller (third from right); and Florence Vessio, who sponsored one of the awards. The scholarship winners were Alyssa Ciniglio, Sarah Cullivan, Joseph Pullara and Olivia Von Drathen-Ruiz of Sacred Heart School; Richa Gurung of Grover Cleveland High School; Daniela Carola of Christ the King; John Hickey and Emily Rabot of Archbishop Molloy High School; Rafal Chudzik of Townsend Harris High School; Patricia Fawcett of P.S./I.S. 113; Aleksandra Wasilewska of I.S. 93; and Christina Shenouda of St. Matthias School.
