NYPD searching for suspect in gunpoint carjacking in Glendale

Police from the NYPD’s 104th Precinct are searching for a suspect who allegedly approached a motorist who had parked his car in Glendale, flashed a gun and demanded his keys before driving off with the vehicle on Sunday, Dec. 18.

Police say that at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Dec. 18, officers responded to a call regarding a carjacking that occurred at 82-54 88th Pl. in Glendale. Upon their arrival, officers learned that a 48-year-old man had parked his vehicle in front of the location before being approached by the suspect.

According to authorities, the suspect displayed a firearm, demanded the victim’s keys, took the victim’s cellphone and fled the location with the victim’s vehicle, a 2021 Mercedes. 

Police on Dec. 19 released surveillance images of the suspect, who is dark-skinned with a slim build and Black hair.

There have been no arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
