A thief was caught on camera breaking into an ATM cash dispenser on Union Turnpike in Fresh Meadows nearly a month ago.

It was reported to the 107th Precinct in Fresh Meadows that on the night of Sunday, Jan. 8, the unidentified man entered the vestibule of the Dime bank branch, located at 176-47 Union Tpke., and allegedly used tools to crack open the machine and remove cash, police said.

The suspect then fled the location in an unknown direction. An NYPD spokesman could not say how much money the thief was able to grab before running off.

The NYPD released video surveillance footage that shows the perpetrator damaging the ATM and snatching the cash. The suspect is described as having a light complexion, around 5’10”, and approximately 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, a black knit winter cap, a black face covering, a black backpack, blue jeans and black sneakers.
