Queens is showing consistent growth in new reports documenting the most popular cities for renters, according to RentCafe.

In July’s renal activity report, Arlington, Virginia was found the be the most popular among renters. However, the Bronx climbed five positions in the rankings to #9, and Queens went up six spots to No. 19.

According to RentCafe, Queens stands out as the third-most competitive rental market in the Northeast this month.

The availability of rental properties in Queens decreased by 23% year-over-year, read the report. However, interest in the area has increased, with page views growing 14% year-over-year, and a 25% increase in properties marked as favorites among potential renters.

The report also found that there was a 29% decrease in saved searches compared to the same month last year. According to RentCafe, this data suggests that though interest in Queens remains high, the lack of available housing may have discouraged some prospective renters.
