With the weather unseasonably cold and wet, the Midville Dodgers have been unable to schedule a workout outdoors. If Mother Nature cooperates, that should change soon. The Dodgers have scheduled an outdoor workout on Sunday, April 22, starting at 1:30 p.m. for their Junior team (16-and-under). No player can turn 17 before August 1. The following week, Sunday, April 29, the Dodgers Senior team will hold their outdoor tryout and workout starting at 1:30 p.m. All workouts will be held at Midville’s home field, Juniper Valley Park field No. 1.
Dodgers General Manager Greg Bianchini has scheduled the workouts knowing full well that important decisions will have to made and quickly. The season opens late next month and, with the high school season that just opened up, players will be kept very busy.
The Dodgers will also announce shortly when workouts and tryouts will start for the College squad.
The Midville Senior boys will take on a new look this season adding veteran coaches Walter Tuthill and Jim Gleason to their coaching staff. Both Tuthill and Gleason, who are in charge of the Christ the King varsity team this season, are excited about the talent on the 2001 version of the Dodgers. The team could be one the most powerful Midville squads ever.

Dodger Dust: The Midville Dodgers home field of Juniper Valley Park will soon undergo a $2 million project to renovate fields Nos. 3, 4, and 5. Construction is expected to commence in July and be completed by next year.
Also, Field No. 1 is slated for improvements this Spring. Two sets of bleachers will be installed in June and a batting cage should be constructed next month.
