The students of the Queensborough Community College Theatre Program announce the upcoming production of the 2,422-year-old play, “Trojan Women,” by Euripides, in a contemporary version adapted and directed by Georgia McGill. This is a timeless drama about the agonizing experience of the losers’ wives after the Trojan War.
More than a dozen student actors will be performing several demanding roles, including Josephina Miley as Helen, the great beauty at the heart of the war. Shantell McDuffie and Andrenee Thompson share the role of Cassandra, princess of Troy, who was blessed with the ability to foresee the future and cursed that no one would believe her.
Opening night will be Friday November 2, at 7:30 p.m. with performances on Monday, November 5 and Friday, November 9 at 10 a.m. The final performance is Saturday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m. Performances are at the Queens Performing Arts Center, located at 225-05 56th Avenue in Bayside.
