Penny harvest makes cents

Among the many student activities at P.S. 130 in Bayside, the students have a Penny Harvest to support worthy charities. A student roundtable selects the recipients, with help from faculty coaches.
The kids learn that doing good deeds helps others and makes them feel good. They gathered pennies and supported charities that help children with cancer, cerebral palsy or diabetes.
Shown here, third grade Harvest leaders (from left) Alex Lai, Tanya Hao, Aashka Chauhan, Sophia Zhang, Jamie De Tingo, Janae Kea, Marisa Nives, Elena Copell and Mitchell Guerra get congratulatory certificates for their good works.
Backing the kids up, here and every day are (far left) Kelly Pawson, Parent Coordinator and Penny Harvest Coach;
(second right) Charli Golden, School Counselor and Penny Harvest Coach and Principal Michelle Contratti.
