Formerly the Quantum Feet 5K in Fresh Meadows, the Brickwell run expects to draw approximately 250 entrants, mostly from Queens and Long Island. It is open to runners of any age, from kids (participating in a “fun run”) to high school and college track athletes. Dan McGrath, a past winner of the Long Island Marathon, has even indicated that he is considering joining the field.
The Brickwell run will feature a two-loop course within the bounds of Kissena Park – a hilly, but not overly challenging course. Runners should be aware of the elevations.
There will be awards based on age groups, gender classifications, and overall results. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Long Island 2-Day Walk to Fight Breast Cancer.
Applications are available at Brickwell, 3 Northern Boulevard, in Great Neck. For further information, call 516-482-1193.
