JAMAICA — A Jamaica teenager has been arrested after she threatened to harm her principal and proceeded to trash the principal’s office during the discussion of a disciplinary matter, the Queens district attorney said.
Chantill Gilbert of Jamaica was arraigned Oct. 7 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Mary O’Donoghue on charges of criminal mischief, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, menacing, disorderly conduct and harassment, Queens DA Richard Brown said. The defendant, released on her own recognizance, will return to court Nov. 18, the DA said.
On Oct. 7, the defendant was called into the principal’s office at the Queens School of Career Development on Linden Boulevard for a disciplinary matter, the DA said. Gilbert is alleged to have cursed, yelled and spit at the principal, Brown said.
The defendant allegedly told the principal she knew the location of the principal’s car and that she would follow the principal home, where she would harm her, the DA said.
She then allegedly lunged at the principal, but was restrained, and then grabbed assorted papers, office supplies and pieces of equipment in the office and threw them, Brown said.
The defendant is also accused of pushing, swinging and shoving school safety officers, who attempted to hand-cuff her, Brown said.
