On Wednesday, July 7, police responded to a 9-1-1 call of a male being assaulted inside Astoria Park.
Cops found 32-year-old Ruben Vargas lying on the ground unconscious with trauma to the body. EMS responded and pronounced Vargas dead.
That same day, cops arrested Thomas Donovan, 31, and Kelly Harnett, 28. They have been charged with murder in the second degree, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.
