Corona C.A.N. recognizes community leaders

Corona Community Action Network (C.A.N.) recognized the hard work and dedication of five individuals that help the Corona community. On Wednesday, September 22 at the restaurant La Estrella Latina at 104th Street and Roosevelt Avenue, Ruben Peña, president of Corona C.A.N. (far left) and Queens Borough President Helen Marshall (far right) presented plaques to the organization’s 2010 Community Honorees, including (from second left to right) Dr. Hector B. Florimon de la Rosa, medical director of the National Pediatric Center in Corona; Victoria Schneps-Yunis, founder and president of Schneps Communications, Inc., publisher of The Queens Courier; Karla Alfano, secretary of the Corona C.A.N. board of directors; Eileen Connoly, manager of Queens Parks for the Department of Parks and Recreation; and Ricardi Calixte, director of neighborhood Economic Development at the Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC).
