A search-and-rescue team sent out to look for missing local resident Giuseppe Russo instead found the skeletal remains of an unknown person in Howard Beach.

The remains, which are all bones and at least a year old, were found about a quarter mile into the five-foot-high weeds along 165th Avenue at 85th Street.

An anthropology team from the medical examiner’s office was sent there to excavate the remains. It is unsure at this time the age or sex of the remains.
