A collision between a city bus and an SUV in a John F. Kennedy International Airport parking lot killed an airport employee and sent others to the hospital Wednesday night.
An unidentified 26-year-old worker was killed when the Chevy Suburban he was riding in was struck by a B15 bus around 10:30 p.m. in a parking lot near PanAm Road, a representative from the Port Authority said.
The victim’s family lives in Barbados, the New York Post reported, and their name has not yet been released pending family notification.
The driver of the vehicle, who also worked at the airport, sustained critical injuries and was taken to Jamaica Hospital, according to the spokesman. Seven occupants on the bus were injured in the crash and some were taken to Jamaica Hospital for treatment while others were treated at the scene, the spokesman said.
The cause of the crash was under investigation as of press time Thursday afternoon, according to the Port Authority. No criminality was suspected and there were no arrests so far.
