RED League’s Top Players Compete In Fresh Meadows

The RED NMF softball league held its 2012 All-Star Game on Sunday, June 24 at Cunningham Park in Fresh Meadows.

The squads were split into Yellow and Blue squads. The Blue team, coached by Erick Molina of the Red Rage Team, consisted of fellow Red Rage players Aramis Sanchez, Peter Tummes and Andry Santos; Raylin Perez, Willie Torrez, Eric Lopez and manager Nelson Quinones of the No Respect squad; Eddie Fernandez, Alex Reinosa, Richard Diaz and manager Moses Garces of the Bravehearts; David Gomez, Michael Oseback, Carlos Martinez and manager Bryon Munoz of the Diablos; and Andrew Ramsingh, Orlando Zapata, Mark Robinson and manager Ryan Fairall of MDS.

Representing the Yellow team, coached by Jonathan Charriez of Bad Intentions, were Hector Bonilla, Robert Garcia, Joseph Melendez and Mortan Moore of Bad Intentions; Mike Park, Keith Santiago, Kevin Jaquez and manager Felix Delgado of the Bandits; Mike Birardi, Patrick Maldonado, Elijah Morgan and manager Giovanni Russo of the Legends; Victor Ortiz Sr, Roberto Perez, Cruz Roche and manager Audwin Duffy-Philip of the Armageddon squad; Ivan Rosario, Carmelo Rodriguez, Leyton Martinez and manager Robert Johnson of the Slaughter House team; and Emith Estrada, Luis Pacheco and manager Louis Correa of the Expos.

Luis Sanchez of Armageddon and Richard Castro and Anibal Hernandez of Bad Intentions filled in for some players who were unable to attend.

The Yellow squad scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning; the Blue team put one run on the board in their half of the third inning, then scored two runs in the fourth to take the lead. The Yellow team answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to reclaim a one-run lead.

In the sixth inning, the Blue team brought three runs in; the Yellow team scored two runs to tie the game at 6-6.

The Blue team erupted in the eighth inning for six runs, taking a 12-6 lead. They added one insurance run for a 13-6 win.

The Blue team advances to face off with the QLSA Weeknight Softball League under the lights on a Friday night in the near future.
