Cuffed After NYPD Investigation
An investigation into a report of shots fired in Astoria led 114th Precinct officers on Friday, Aug. 31 to a suspect found to have enough weapons in his home to equip a precinct of his own, police sources reported.
Michael Millazzo, 53, was arrested on Friday after a search warrant at his Shore Boulevard home earlier that day allegedly unearthed a large cache of weaponry, including a .40 caliber Glock firearm, a 9mm firearm, over 10,000 rounds of ammunition, over 60 knives, seven tasers, eight brass knuckles, nine batons (three of the expandable variety) and 10 pairs of handcuffs.
The precinct’s investigation-led by Sgt. Joseph Corideo-began after the NYPD was notified that shots from a firearm were allegedly fired into the air in front of Millazzo’s home on Sunday, Aug. 26.
Millazzo was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon as well as reckless endangerment and criminal use of a firearm stemming from the actions of Aug. 26.
Charges resulting from the search warrant included 32 counts of thirddegree criminal possession of a weapon and 21 total counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
Millazzo appeared before Queens Criminal Court Judge Stephanie Zaro and ordered held on $1 million in bond or $500,000 in cash, which he did not post. His next court date is Sept. 14.
